Cloud Engineering Capability Manager

Position purpose

As a Cloud Engineering Capability Manager, whilst being technical and hands-on capable, you will lead and develop cross-capability team of experts. By acquiring and building the best skills in each area, you will support delivery of successful projects. This will include working closely with the Project Managers, Architects and other Capabilities as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.
Working closely with Talent Heroes, supporting you in particular areas, you will ensure the structured and coordinated planning of your team€™s development. Your wide technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required to support an assist Cloud Engineers at technical level.
This role offers challenges across a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the future direction of the team and technologies used across the business.
To apply for this role, in addition to having a proven management background (could be an informal role) you must also have proven technical capability combined with experience in the leadership of consulting teams. You will be joining a large team of diverse skills and experience and the job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects.

Main accountabilities

  • Line management and personal development of a team of highly skilled Cloud Engineers

  • Supporting project resource scheduling and department capacity planning

  • Capable of understanding and contributing to the solutions created by the team from design through to infrastructure engineering level with support from Enterprise Architects and other Capabilities

  • Ensure awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its life cycle

  • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new projects

  • Supporting project resource scheduling and department capacity planning

  • Ownership, development and management of allocated departmental processes

  • Take responsibility for making key decisions to ensure the successful implementation of all initiatives

  • Hands on involvement in implementation activities, according to project needs

Candidate€™s profile

  • Experience of people management and the ability to lead and influence others

  • Experience in formal personal development planning and individual team and process performance management

  • Experience in a variety of areas including Public Cloud, O365, Windows 10, Wintel, Linux, Network, Automation would be a huge plus

  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills

  • Excellent personal organization and ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks

  • Comfortable working without routine supervision

  • A desire to remain technically capable
